Spok Messenger Ports: Alcatel

Alcatel Ports allow integration with serial Alcatel DECT systems. Please note that Alcatel CSTA and Web Services integration do not require an Alcatel port to be setup. Ensure the hardware has been configured.

  1. Choose Interfaces > Ports. The Ports dialog displays.
  2. Click the New button to create a new port on the server. NOTE: When creating a port that has similar properties to an existing one, select the port of similar type before selecting New. Details specific to that port only are required.
  3. Enter the fields as described in the table below:

    Name

In the Name field, enter a name to describe the module, or group of modules connecting to this port. This is useful when you have multiple zones when configuring the alarm inputs.

    Protocol

From the Protocol list box, choose the Alcatel option. The dialog is updated to show the fields that are required by this port.

    Type

The Direct RS-232 option is selected by default in the Type list box. This is the only type available for an Alcatel Port.

    Serial Port

From the Serial Port list box, select a port that is defined as being AVAILABLE. A port that is already assigned within Spok Messenger is labeled IN USE. A port in use by another application on the server is labeled UNAVAILABLE.

    Flow Control

From the Flow Control list box, select the RTS/CTS option

  4. Click Save to commit the new settings to the server. The new port configuration is saved.

  5. In order to reduce network traffic, the status of each of the serial ports is not automatically updated. Click Refresh to update the status of each port.

  6. When the Alcatel Port is configured, you need to configure the Alcatel Gateway. Refer to Alcatel Gateways for more information.
