Spok Messenger Ports: MXPP

This port allows receipt of information sent to or received from paging devices on which the Spok Mobile application has been installed. Please note that MXPP ports can also be referred to as Spok Mobile ports.

  1. Choose Interfaces > Ports. The Ports dialog displays.
  2. Click the New button to create a new port on the server. NOTE: When creating a port that has similar properties to an existing one, select the port of similar type before selecting New. Details specific to that port only are required.
  3. Enter the fields as described in the table below:

    Name

    Enter a name to describe the MXPP port.

    Protocol

    From the Protocol list box, select the MXPP option. The fields are automatically populated with the entries shown in the graphic.

    Type

    From the Type list box, choose the TCP/IP option.

    Serial Port

    From the Serial Port list box, select a port that is defined as being AVAILABLE. A port that is already assigned within Spok Messenger is labeled IN USE. A port in use by another application on the server is labeled UNAVAILABLE.

    Flow Control

    From the Flow Control list box, select the None option.

    Initialization string

    Do not enter information into this field.

    Dial string

    Do not enter information into this field.

    Answer after x modem rings

    In the Answer after x modem rings field, enter the amount of time you would like the system to wait before answering an incoming call.

    Auto connect

    Choose this option if you would like the system to automatically establish and maintain a connection rather than establishing a connection on demand.

  4. Click Save to commit the new settings to the server. The new port configuration is saved.

  5. In order to reduce network traffic, the status of each of the serial ports is not automatically updated. Click Refresh to update the status of each port.

  6. When the MXPP port is configured, gateway configuration is automatic. Refer to MXPP gateway for more details.
