Spok Messenger Ports: Spok APDI

This port allows receipt of information from the Spok PDI protocol.

  1. Choose Interfaces > Ports. The Ports dialog displays.
  2. Click the New button to create a new port on the server.
  3. Enter the fields as described in the table below:

TCP/IP

Name

In the Name field, enter a name to describe the Spok port.

Protocol

Select the Database Update option from the drop down menu.

Type

Select the TCP/IP option from the drop down menu. 

IP bandwidth

Select the appropriate bandwidth for your system from the drop down menu.

IP address

Enter the IP address for the system into the IP address field.

TCP port

Enter the information for the TCP port into the TCP port field.

Listen for TCP connections

Choose this option if you would like the system to listen for TCP connections on this port.

Send Buffer Size

In this field, enter the amount that represents the amount of socket buffer allocated for sending data over the TCP connection. Please note that the default values are usually recommended. These must be a multiple of 4096 bytes.

Recv Buffer Size

In this field, enter the amount that represents the amount of socket buffer allocated for receiving data over the TCP connection. Please note that the default values are usually recommended. These must be a multiple of 4096 bytes.

Direct RS-232/Direct RS-485

Name

In the Name field, enter a name to describe the Spok port.

Protocol

Select the TAP option from the drop down menu.

Type

Select the Direct RS-232 or Direct RS-485 option from the drop down menu.

Serial Port

From the Serial Port list box, select a port that is defined as being AVAILABLE. A port that is already assigned within Spok Messenger is labeled IN USE. A port in use by another application on the server is labeled UNAVAILABLE.

Flow Control

Select the system you are connecting to from the drop down menu.

 

  1. Click Save to commit the new settings to the server. The new port configuration is saved.
  2. In order to reduce network traffic, the status of each of the serial ports is not automatically updated. Click Refresh to update the status of each port.
