Spok Messenger Gateways: Ascom

Ascom Gateways in Spok Messenger are used for communication between handsets that work in conjunction with Ascom OAPv4 and Ascom Wireless FreeNet Telephone Systems. The Ascom Gateways screen can be accessed by choosing the Interfaces > Ascom menu option.

 

A description of the fields is shown below:

Name

The name that appears in the gateway list.

Port

The physical connection that this gateway uses.

Enable Gateway

Choose this option if you want the gateway to be active.

Failed Attempt Retries

Determines the maximum number of times that the system retries a connection after a failed attempt.

Allow Forced Escalation

Determines if the escalation is possible for the gateway. Escalation requires setting an escalation sequence for it to show the escalate menu.

Time Between Retries

The time (in seconds) between retries.

Allow manual alarm cancel

When a system is integrated that allows cancellation of events from the handset, this feature can be used to allow a specific cancel signal to be sent. This feature can only be used with OEM components of Spok products.

Session Timeout

Refers to the time (in seconds) the system waits before timing out.

Accept clears alarms

Choose this option if you would like the Accept option to clear alarms.

Configure Alert Profiles

Clicking the Configure Alert Profiles button takes you to the Configure Alert Profiles dialog.

 

Adding an Ascom Gateway

  1. Choose Interfaces > Ascom. The Ascom Gateways screen displays.
  2. Click New. The fields can be edited.
  3. Enter the information as desired.

 

Configuring Alert Profiles

Maps Ascom ring tones and colors to message tones in Spok Messenger. These configurations determine how the handsets ring and display messages based on message tone.

  1. Click Configure Alert Profiles. The Configure Alert Profiles screen displays.
  2. Edit the desired information.

    Alert Profile

    The message tones that are available.

    Priority

    The level of priority that each alarm has.

    Ring Count

    The number of times the device rings for each alerting pattern.

    Beep Code

    Beep code to be played on the handset.

    0-9 is used by the Ascom paging system for backward compatibility. 10-99 is reserved. See the manual for your handset for details on which beep code values are supported by the handset.

    Color

    The color that is assigned to each priority level.

    Urgent

    Allows for messages to push through and ring the handset when in vibrate mode. Please note that if the handset it set to silent mode, all messages are received as silent messages.

  3. Click Save to save the information.

 

Editing an Ascom Gateway

An existing Ascom Gateway can be edited.

  1. Choose Interfaces > Ascom. The Ascom Gateways dialog displays.
  2. Select the gateway to be edited from the list on the left.
  3. Change the desired information.
  4. Click Save. The changes to the gateway are saved.

 

Deleting an Ascom Gateway

An existing Ascom Gateway can be deleted.

  1. Choose Interfaces > Ascom. The Ascom Gateways dialog displays.
  2. Select the gateway to be deleted from the list.
  3. Click Delete or press the delete key on the keyboard. The gateway is deleted.
