Spok Messenger Gateways: Comp1/Comp2

Comp Gateways are used for sending and receiving messages from systems using the Comp 1 or 2 protocols.

A Comp port must be created before a Comp gateway can be added. The Comp ports display in the Port list box. For information about Comp ports, please refer to Comp1/Comp2 Ports.

Please note that there is no provision to set the communications parameters, as the Comp CCFP can use only one communication setting.

A description of the fields is included below:

Name

The name that appears in the gateway port list.

Protocol Variant

Specifies whether the Comp1 or Comp2 protocol is used.

Port

Refers to the physical connection that this gateway utilizes. If no port appears in this list, you need to configure at least one port to use the Comp protocol.

Baud

Sets the communication rate for serial communications.

Data

Sets the number of data bits for serial communications.

Parity

Sets the type of parity for serial communications.

Stop

Sets the number of stop bits for serial communications.

Max msg length

Determines the longest message that can be sent through this gateway. Messages that exceed this length are either split or truncated, depending on if the Split long messages option is chosen.

Split long messages

Causes messages longer than the maximum message length to be sent as separate sequential messages.

Send Via

This is for Comp2 messages received from an external system. The message can either be forwarded directly to another gateway or default mapping, which uses the ID received as a local ID lookup.

Recipient

This is for Comp2 messages received from an external system. The message is forwarded to the specified recipient.

Gateway enabled

Determines whether or not the gateway is functional. It is convenient to disable this setting to temporarily stop messaging to the Comp device.
