Spok Messenger Gateways: Spok APDI

Spok Gateways are defined as destinations to receive database contact update information utilizing the Spok PDI protocol.

A Spok port must be defined as a Database Update port before a Spok gateway can be defined. For information about the Database Updated ports, please refer to Database Update Ports.

A description of the fields is shown below:

Name

The name that appears in the Gateway port list.

Username

The name the user of this gateway enters as part of the login process as per the Spok PDI protocol.

Password

The password for the username that is entered as part of the login process as per the Spok PDI protocol.

Version

The protocol version for the gateway.

Ports

Refers to the IP port this gateway listens to for logins and updates.

Gateway enabled

Determines whether or not the gateway is functional. It is convenient to disable this setting to temporarily stop messaging to one device.

Send via

In the event that a matching outgoing gateway cannot be found for the incoming contact information, the contact is stored with the outgoing gateway assigned in the “Send Via” field entered as their method of message delivery.  Warning is returned to the client.

 

  1. Choose Interfaces > Spok APDI. The Spok Gateway screen displays.

  1. Click New. The fields can be edited.
  2. In the Name field, enter a name for the gateway.
  3. In the Username field, enter the name the user of this Gateway enters as part of the login process as per the Spok PDI protocol.
  4. In the Password field, enter the password for the username that is used as part of the login process as per the Spok PDI protocol.
  5. In the Version field, enter the version number.
  6. Specify the IP port this gateway listens on for logins and updates.
    1. Click Add. The Port for Gateway Name screen displays.
    2. From the Port list box, select the port that should be used by this gateway.
    3. The Baud, Data, Parity, and Stop list boxes are populated with default values. The defaults can be changed if needed.
    4. Click the OK button. The Port field in the Spok Gateway screen is populated with your selection.

  1. The Gateway enabled option determines whether or not the gateway is functional. It is convenient to disable this setting to temporarily stop messaging to the device.
  2. The Send via list box is used in the event a matching outgoing gateway cannot be found for the incoming contact information. The contact is stored with the outgoing gateway selected in the Send Via list box entered as their method of message delivery. A warning is returned to the client.

 

Editing a Spok ADPI Gateway

An existing Spok Gateway can be edited.

  1. Choose Interfaces > Spok APDI. The Spok Gateway screen displays.
  2. Select the gateway to be edited from the list on the left.
  3. Change the desired information.
  4. Click Save. The changes to the gateway are saved.

 

Deleting a Spok Gateway

An existing Spok Gateway can be deleted.

  1. Choose Interfaces > Spok APDI. The Spok Gateway screen displays.
  2. Select the gateway to be deleted from the list.
  3. Click Delete or press the delete key on the keyboard. The gateway is deleted.
