Configuring Event Groups in Spok Messenger

The Event Groups interface allows you to group individual events into event groups within the Spok Messenger system. For example, if you have fifteen events entered in the Events dialog, you can choose any number of those entered events to group together into an event group in the Event Groups dialog. 

Please note that in order for events to be grouped into event groups, the events must first be created in the Events dialog.

After events are created in the Events dialog, the added events display in the drop down menu in the Event Groups dialog, allowing you to group them into groups.

Adding Event Groups

  1. Choose the Edit > Event Groups dialog. The Even Groups dialog displays.
  2. In the Event Groups dialog, click New . The fields become available for editing.
  3. In the Group Name field, enter a name to describe the event group that you are creating.
  4. In the Abbreviation field, enter an abbreviation for the event group name that you entered in the Group Name field.
  5. From the drop down menu of available events, choose the event you would like to add to the event group. The chosen event displays in the field.
  6. To add the chosen event to the Selected Events list, click Add . The chosen event is added to the Selected Events list.
  7. To add additional events to the Selected Events list, repeat this process. Additional events display in the Selected Events list.
  8. To delete a chosen event from the Selected Events list, highlight the event you would like to delete in the Selected Events list. The event becomes highlighted.
  9. Click Remove. The chosen event is removed from the Selected Events list.
  10. To save the event group, click Save . The event group is saved and displays in the Event Groups list.

Editing Event Groups

Existing event groups can be edited in the Spok Messenger system.

  1. Choose the Edit > Event Groups menu option. The Event Groups dialog displays.
  2. From the list of event groups, choose the event you would like to edit from the Event Groups list. The event group becomes highlighted and the information for the event group displays in the fields.
  3. Edit the desired information.
  4. After all desired changes are made, click Save . The changes are saved.

Deleting Event Groups

Existing event groups can be deleted from the Spok Messenger system.

  1. Choose the Edit > Event Groups dialog. The Event Groups dialog displays.
  2. From the list of event groups, choose the event group you would like to delete. The chosen event group becomes highlighted and information for that event group displays in the fields.
  3. Click Delete. A warning dialog displays.
  4. Click OK. The event group is deleted and it no longer displays in the Event Groups list.
