Command Line Options in Spok Messenger

There are various command line options for both the server and client. These can be used to change settings, create, and restore backups when the client is not available or is not communicating with the server, and to provide the user interface.

Server Options

These options are accessed by entering “server /<option>” from the folder containing the server.exe file. The default folder is:

c:\Program Files\Commtech Wireless\CommtechMessenger

/?

Displays help for command line options

/start

Starts server the same as from the taskbar icon

/stop

Stops server

/install

Installs windows service

/uninstall

Uninstalls windows service

/ver

Displays server version number

/restore <filename>

Restores database from the path defined by filename

 Please note that you need to stop the server before using this command (see stop option above).

/backup <filename>

Backs up database to path defined by filename

/tcpport <number>

Changes the TCP port used to communicate between the server and client

 

Client Options

These options are accessed by entering “basepage /<option>” from the folder containing the BASEPage.exe file. The default folder is:

c:\Program Files\Commtech Wireless\CommtechMessenger\client

/?

Displays help for command line options.

/U <name>

Inserts name into the Name box of the logon screen and automatically starts if the password is correct.

/P <password>

Inserts password into the Password box of the logon screen.

/S <server>

Inserts the server into the Server box of the logon screen.

/ver

Displays the client version number.

/O <number>

Changes the TCP port used to communicate between the client and server.
