Text Messaging Tab in Spok Messenger

The third tab refers exclusively to settings related to text messages.

  1. Choose Edit > Settings. The Settings dialog displays.
  2. Choose the Text Messaging tab. The Text Messaging tab displays.
  3. Enter information as desired. A description of each field is included below.

    Alert Profile

    Refer to the beep code (or function digit) used to send these types of messages to recipients. The functionality of these settings may depend on the type of gateway through which the messages are being sent.

    Priority Alert Profile

    Refer to the beep code (or function digit) used to send these types of messages to recipients. The functionality of these settings may depend on the type of gateway through which the messages are being sent.

    Alarm Clear Alert Profile

    Refer to the beep code (or function digit) used to send these types of messages to recipients. The functionality of these settings may depend on the type of gateway through which the messages are being sent.

    Force numeric pages to A tone

    Overrides the above settings and send a beep code (or function digit) of A to all numeric contacts. This setting should be checked if numeric pagers that only respond to A type messages are being used on site.

    Support NEC extended numeric formats

    Allows limited alphanumeric characters to be sent to numeric pagers. Only some NEC pagers support this function.

    Warn when messages of wrong type are sent

    Produces a warning message if invalid characters are sent to contacts when checked; for example, sending an alphanumeric message to a numeric pager.

  4. After all changes are made, click Save . The changes are saved.
