Problems Dialing from the 916 Area Code

Calls originating from the 916 area code are not complected and failing to dial out after February 10, 2018

After February 10, 2018, calls originating from the 916 area code will need to be dialed as follows: 1+ area code + telephone number (1 888-888-8888).
Calls originating from the 916 area code will fail after February 10, 2018 if the number dialed does not include 1 + area code + telephone number.

If customers in the 916 area code are using automatic dialers, the automatic dialers will need to be reprogrammed to dial using the new procedure.

Dialing 9-1-1 Unaffected: Consumers can still dial three digits to reach 911. Other three-digit codes, such as 211, 311,411, 511, 611, 711, and 811, can also be dialed with just three digits where they are available.

Phone number translations can be updated to make sure these changes do not impact users.
