Configuration Comparison

The Spok Mobile application can be set up on devices in three different configurations: Enterprise, Spheres, or Pager Number. Depending on the type of configuration used, different features in the application may be enabled or disabled.

  • In the Enterprise configuration of Spok Mobile, devices register with a site’s host system (IntelliSuite/Spok Console, Smart Suite, or MediCall). A device which is registered with a specific site’s host system can access all of the contacts that are registered to that host system.
  • In the Spheres configuration of Spok Mobile, devices register with Spok’s public sphere or group. In this configuration, devices are not registered with one specific site’s host system. Instead, these devices are registered with Spok’s public device group. A device which is registered with Spok’s public device group can access all of the contacts that are registered in that group.
  • In the Pager Number configuration of Spok Mobile, devices register with a pager number instead of with a phone number or email address. This configuration is used by individuals who are already registered at a site, but who would like to switch from using a pager to using the Spok Mobile application. Please note that this configuration allows users to continue using an existing pager number, or a new pager number that is administered by Spok. In this configuration, messages are managed with standard interfaces (telephone, TAP, WCTP, SMTP, SNPP, and HTTP).
