Windows Security Protocols for Environments with Spok Mobile 4.4

In Spok product environments that include Spok Mobile, the following Windows security protocols must be enabled on all Windows servers that host Spok products:
  • SSL 3.0
  • TLS 1.0
  • TLS 1.1
  • TLS 1.2

If any of these protocols are disabled, it may result in Spok Mobile users being unable to register, send or receive messages, or search for users in the enterprise directory. This applies to all supported Spok product versions and configurations.

NOTE: Due to Red Hat 5 operating system constraints, Smart Suite servers only support SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0.

IMPORTANT: Windows 2008 does NOT support TLS 1.1 or 1.2. Customers with Windows 2008 servers in their environment must upgrade to a Windows server version that supports TLS 1.1 and 1.2 in order to comply with Spok's security requirements.

Troubleshooting: If any of the Windows security protocols listed above have been disabled, re-enable them to restore system operation. After making changes to a server's security protocol settings, a restart of the system is required in order for the changes to take effect. The length of downtime following a system restart depends on the machine's configuration.
