Magma Box
A Magma Box is an external device used as a PCI expansion bay. This connects to a card installed on the server itself. Depending on the model, it can supply up to 16 additional PCI-e slots. These are used to provide additional PCI-e slots for Dialogic Cards as the servers we recommend do not supply enough room for more than 2 cards. Any speech or voice server needing more than 2 Dialogic cards will require the use of a Magma Box.
Magma Box Reboot Order
WARNING: NEVER SHUTDOWN MAGMA BOX WHILE THE SERVER IT IS CONNECTED TO IS RUNNING.
This would be the same as if you removed a PCI card while the server was running!
- Shutdown server that has the Magma Box attached (such as a Speech RC / all-in-one or a Linux voice server).
- Shutdown Magma Box.
- Start Magma Box. Ensure that this is started first so the server recognizes it.
- Start Server.
