Managing Alerts and Tasks

Working with Alerts

Alerts are displayed as pop-up messages in the Spok Go messaging app. When an alert is received, no other actions can be taken in Spok Go until that alert is responded to.

The information displayed in an alert varies based on the type of alert. See Alert Types for more detailed descriptions of each type of alert and the information they provide.

Viewing an Alert's Escalation Timer

For alerts that can be escalated, a countdown timer is displayed at the bottom of the alert along with the accept alert mobile.png and decline alert mobile.png buttons. When the timer expires or the alert is declined, the alert is automatically escalated to the next staff member in line as configured in the Workflow that generated the alert.

Viewing Alert History

While viewing an alert, scroll down until the History section is visible. This section contains the alert history information.

Accepting an Alert

While viewing the alert, tap accept alert mobile.png to accept it. A task is created from the alert and is added to your Tasks list. See Working with Tasks for more information.

Responding to a Nurse Call Alert with CallBack

Some organizations support the callback feature in nurse calls. Nurse call alerts using this response option, display callback.png as a response option in addition to the accept alert mobile.png and decline alert mobile.png buttons. Tap callback.png to call the patient's location directly from your mobile device.

Declining an Alert

While viewing the alert, tap accept alert mobile.png to decline it. The alert will be escalated to the next recipient.

Cancelling a Nurse Call Alert

Nurse Calls are cancelled with in-room equipment. When a nurse call alert is cancelled, the last entry in the alert's history will have a status of "Cleared" and will show the location from which the cancellation event was sent.

Acknowledging a Nurse Call Code

While viewing the alert, tap Acknowledge.

Nurse Call Codes do not generate tasks when they are acknowledged, and they are not escalated.

Working with Tasks

The Tasks list displays all active alerts that you have accepted. Declined or escalated alerts are not displayed in the Tasks folder. When a task is marked as complete, the alert is removed from the Tasks list.

A task expires 24 hours after it is created. Expired tasks are removed from the Tasks list.

Viewing Tasks and Task Details

The task details contain the information from the original alert.

  1. While signed into Spok Go, tap tasks list mobile.png. Your Tasks list is displayed.
  2. Tap on a task in the Tasks list to display the task details.

Marking a Task As Complete

  1. While viewing your Tasks list, tap on a task to view the task details.
  2. Tap Complete. The task is removed from the Task list.
