Managing Your Preferences

Setting Your Availability Status

  1. While using Spok Go, tap your profile icon profile icon mobile.png.The preferences menu is displayed.
  2. Locate your current availability status in the Preferences menu and tap on it. The Select Status menu is displayed.  See Availability Status Definitions for more information.
  3. Tap on the desired status. Your status is updated.

Availability Status Definitions

The list below defines the availability statuses you can choose from.

You are currently signed into Spok Go and can receive messages and alerts.

 

Do Not Disturb

You have set your availability status to Do Not Disturb.

Activities with a priority level of "Critical" will always override your mute settings.


 
Unavailable You are unavailable and will not receive notifications on any device, including pagers, regardless of priority level.
  • All push notifications are suppressed.
  • Any Workflows that you are part of will skip over you and escalate alert notifications to the next staff member in the Workflow.
  • You will not be able to choose the Unavailable status if you are currently on an active on-call shift, opted into a care team role, assigned to a current staff assignment.
  • Your availability status is updated to Available automatically at the start of the next on-call shift or staff assignment.

Configuring Auto Forwarding

While enabled, Auto Forwarding forwards all activities sent to your Spok Go account to a Spok Go user that you designate.

Viewing the Current Auto Forwarding Configuration

  1. While using Spok Go, tap your profile icon profile icon mobile.png. The preferences menu is displayed.
  2. Tap Auto Forward. The Auto Forward configuration screen is displayed.

Enabling Auto Forwarding

  1. While viewing the Auto Forward configuration screen, locate the Forward to section and Tap Add Person. The Forward to screen is displayed.
  2. Start typing the name of the person who will receive forwarded activities. A list of names is displayed as you type.
  3. Choose the desired person from the list by tapping on their name. The Auto Forward screen is displayed.
  4. Locate the Times section and tap on the desired scheduling option. If you choose Indefinitely, you will have to manually end auto forwarding. See Manually Ending Auto Forwarding.
  5. (Optional) Tap in the Additional Notes field to enter a message that will be sent to the person you've designated to receive your forwarded activities.
  6. Tap Begin Forwarding. You will receive a message in your Spok Go inbox confirming that you have enabled auto forwarding, and your availability status will now indicate that you are forwarding your activities. For example, if you are available, your status will change from Available to Available - Forwarding.

Manually Stopping Auto Forwarding

  1. While using Spok Go, tap your profile icon profile icon mobile.png. The preferences menu is displayed.
  2. Tap Auto Forward. The Auto Forward screen is displayed.
  3. Tap End Forwarding.

Managing Communication Notes

Communication notes allow you to specify how others should contact you. Your communication notes will appear in your contact card, in Spok Go global search results, and in the Members pane of a message thread.

Adding Communication Notes

  1. While using Spok Go, tap your profile icon profile icon mobile.png. The preferences menu is displayed.
  2. Tap Communication Notes. The Communication Notes screen is displayed.
  3. Tap in the text field and enter your communication notes.
  4. Tap Save.

Editing Communication Notes

  1. While using Spok Go, tap your profile icon profile icon mobile.png. The preferences menu is displayed.
  2. Tap Communication Notes. The Communication Notes screen is displayed.
  3. Tap in the text field and make the desired changes to your communication notes.
  4. Tap Save.

Deleting Communication Notes

  1. While using Spok Go, tap your profile icon profile icon mobile.png. The preferences menu is displayed.
  2. Tap Communication Notes. The Communication Notes screen is displayed.
  3. Tap Clear.
  4. Tap Save.

Managing Communication Preferences

Communication Preferences lets you configure how and when Spok Go will route activities to a supplemental personal pager.

These settings can only be applied to a personal pager that is used in addition to another managed pager or a shared smart device, and these settings are not available if your personal pager is your only device.

If you have silenced a conversation in Spok Go, you will not receive no further pages generated by that conversation.

Viewing Your Communication Preferences

  1. While using Spok Go, tap your profile icon profile icon mobile.png. The preferences menu is displayed.
  2. Tap My Settings. The My Settings screen is displayed.
  3. Tap Communication Preferences. The Communication Preferences screen is displayed. A list of all devices associated with your Spok Go account is displayed here.

Setting Communication Preferences Status for a Device

While viewing your Communications Preferences, tap the toggle next to the device name to enable or disable the settings for the device.

Configuring Activity Routing by Type

  1. While viewing the Communication Preferences screen, tap the device to be configured.
  2. Tap Activity Type.
  3. Tap on an activity type to toggle the routing settings for the activity type.
  4. Tap Save.

Configuring Activity Routing by Priority Level

The Critical priority cannot be disabled. All Critical priority activities will be sent to this device, unless Quiet Hours are currently in effect. See Configuring Quiet Hours.

  1. While viewing the Communication Preferences screen, tap the device to be configured.
  2. Tap Priority Level. The Priority Levels screen is displayed.
  3. Tap on each activity priority level that you want to be sent to this device.
  4. Tap Save.

Configuring Quiet Hours

No activity will be sent to the personal pager when Quiet Hours are in effect.

  1. Tap Device Details. The Device Details screen is displayed.
  2. Tap Add Quiet Time.
  3. Configure the dates and times that Quiet Hours will be in effect.
  4. (Optional) Add an additional set of Quiet Hours, and configure the dates and times that they will be in effect. Repeat this until all desired sets of Quiet Hours have been created.
  5. Tap Save.

Managing Quiet Hours Sets

Your sets of Quiet Hours can be enabled and disabled. While viewing your Quiet Hours configuration, tap the switch next to a set to change its current status.

Deleting Quiet Hours Sets

  1. While viewing your Quiet Hours configuration, tap on a Quiet Hours set to edit it.
  2. Tap Delete.

Managing Notifications

Viewing Notification Settings

  1. While using Spok Go, tap your profile icon profile icon mobile.png. The preferences menu is displayed.
  2. Tap My Settings. The My Settings screen is displayed.
  3. Tap Notifications. The Notifications screen is displayed.

Configuring Push Notifications

Push notifications are enabled by default. The current status of push notifications settings is displayed here.

Disabling Push Notifications

  1. While viewing the Notifications screen, tap Push Notifications. The Android Spok Go notification settings screen is displayed.
  2. Tap Show Notifications.

Enabling Push Notifications

  1. While using Spok Go, tap your profile icon profile icon mobile.png. The preferences menu is displayed.
  2. Tap My Settings. The My Settings screen is displayed.
  3. Tap Notifications. A warning message that push notifications are disabled on the device is displayed.
  4. Tap Continue to Settings. The iOS device displays the notification settings for the Spok Go app.
  5. Tap Show Notifications.

Reminder Notifications

Reminder Notifications are push notifications configured by your organization's system administrator to send repeating reminders to you when there are unread chat or notification activities in your inbox.

Chats are messages you receive from another Spok Go user. Notifications are messages you receive from an external system.

Configuring Mute Override

Mute Override allows Spok Go to play notification tones even if your device is currently set to mute or if your Spok Go status is set to Do Not Disturb. If mute override is disabled, Spok Go will follow your device's notification settings.

Enabling Mute Override

  1. While viewing the Notifications settings screen, tap Mute Override. The Mute Override screen is displayed.
  2. Tap the Mute Override toggle. The Mute Override configuration tools are displayed.
  3. Set the Test Volume slider to the desired level. This is the volume that the Mute Override notifications will be played at.
  4. Tap on the desired activity priority levels that will be allowed to override your device's mute setting.
  5. Tap Save.

Enabling Override Do Not Disturb

This setting allows you to enable both Spok Go sounds and notifications when your device is on Do Not Disturb. By default, this setting is disabled.  

Your device may differ from the process described below depending on OS version and device manufacturer and model.

Enabling Override Do Not Disturb Sound
  1. While viewing the Mute Override screen, ensure that Mute Override is enabled.  See Enabling Mute Override.
  2. Tap Override Do Not Disturb. The Override Do Not Disturb screen is displayed.
  3. Tap Override Do Not Disturb Sound. The Do Not Disturb system settings for your device is displayed.
  4. Locate your device in the list and allow Do Not Disturb access.
Enabling Override Do Not Disturb Notification
  1. While viewing the Mute Override screen, ensure that Mute Override is enabled.  See Enabling Mute Override.
  2. Tap Override Do Not Disturb. The Override Do Not Disturb screen is displayed.
  3. Tap Override Do Not Disturb Notification. The Android notifications screen for the Spok Go application is displayed. 
  4. Tap Advanced to display more controls.  
  5. Tap Override Do Not Disturb

Configuring Priority Alert Sounds

Spok Go allows you to configure each activity priority level with its own tone.

  1. While viewing the Notifications settings screen, tap Sound. The Sound screen is displayed.
  2. Tap on a priority level. The list of available tones is displayed.
  3. Tap on the desired tone.
  4. Tap the Back arrow.
  5. (Optional) Continue assigning tones to each activity priority level that will have a unique tone.
  6. Tap Save.

Spok Go Language Settings

By default, Spok Go uses the language that your device is configured to use. In cases where Spok Go cannot detect or match your device's language setting, the Spok Go language will be set to English (United States).
