Attachments

This article lists the supported file types for attachments and describes how to add or remove a file from a message in Spok Go for Android.

Attachments Overview

Spok Go lets you send files as attachments to your message recipients. You can use the camera on your device to take photos and include them in a message. If needed, you can discard a photo that you started while using Spok Go. You can also attach files from your device. 

Attachments are not stored on the device. Photos taken from within the Spok Go application are also not stored on the device.

Supported File Types

Attachments can be up to 36 MB in size. The following file types are supported:

  • Document file formats:
    • .DOC, .DOCX, .PPT, .PPTX, .XLS, .XLSX, .PDF, .TXT
  • Media file formats:
    • .AVI, .FLV, .WMV, .MP4, .MOV, .MP3, .WAV, .M4A
  • Image file formats:
    • .JPG, .PNG, .GIF, .IMG, .BMP, .WEBP, .HDR, .NII, .MNC, .DCM

Any photos that are received through the Spok Go application are accessible only within the Spok Go application. Attachments are securely encrypted.

Viewing an Attachment

To view an attachment, your device must have the software associated with that attachment's file type installed.

  1. Tap the conversation containing the attachment. A preview of the attachment is displayed. 
  2. Tap the file to open it. 

Attaching an Image or a File to a Message

You can attach one or more files to a message. Up to 5 attachments can be sent in one message.  If you send an attachment without a corresponding message, the subject line indicates the number of attached files. For example, "Message with 2 attachments" is displayed.  

You can send a file up to 36 MB as an attachment.

  1. Tap Spok_Go_New_Message_icon.jpg to create a new message.
  2. In the To field, select one or more recipients.
  3. In the Type your message field, tap Spok_Go_attachment_icon.jpg.
  4. Browse to the file you want to attach.
  5. Tap Open.  
  6. Tap the send icon to send the message.
