Technical Note: Third-Party Software Support
Systems Impacted
Impact: Low
All Spok Systems
Overview
While Spok customers are often encouraged by IT best practices to install various third-party software applications on their Spok servers and workstations, such as anti-virus or anti-malware, Spok does not warrantee system operation when combined with non-Spok supplied applications. An anti-virus exclusion list is provided to customers to mitigate known issues with anti-virus applications affecting system performance. If a customer is having system issues after the installation of a third-party software product then Spok Support may be able to provide a minimal level of support, which may include recommending that the third-party software be removed from the system returning the system to the installed configuration.
As with other customer-specific environmental factors such as network, routers, switches, etc., if Spok is unable to determine the cause of a Spok application symptom and it is believed to be an environmental issue, Spok may ask the customer to remove or turn off any non-Spok required customer-specific, third-party packages from the configuration in order to help isolate the issue.
