Getting Started with Spok Go Web Messaging

This article is for anyone who wants to collaborate using Spok Go web messaging. This page describes how to access Spok Go and send messages to your colleagues.

Accessing Spok Go

Supported Browsers

Use one of the following browsers (current version and one version back):

  • Apple Safari
  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 11 only)
  • Mozilla Firefox

If your site uses a web browser that does not support notifications, such as Internet Explorer 11, you can use the Spok Go Desktop application to receive notifications for messages.

Signing In

  1. Go to https://spokcareconnect.com.
  2. Enter your email address.
  3. Click Next.  Your company's sign in page is displayed.
  4. Enter your sign in name and your network password. Depending on how your site is setup, your sign in name may be one of the following: your email address, first name.last name, or domain\first name.last name.
  5. Click Sign in. The Spok Go Messaging screen is displayed.

If you are locked out of your account, contact your IT administrator to reset your account.

You will be automatically signed out after 2 hours of inactivity.

Sending a Message

You can send a message to anyone in your hospital who has signed in to Spok Go at least one time. You can send messages to one or more people. Similar to email, if you create and send multiple new messages to the same person, each new message is treated as a separate conversation. A new message is not appended to an existing conversation to the same person.

Sending a New Message to One Person

  1. Click Spok_Go_New_Message_icon.jpg
  2. In the Search by name field, enter the person's name. You can search by the first name, last name, or part of name. Search results appear automatically and allow you to select your desired contact.
  3. Compose your message in the Type your message field at the bottom of the page.
  4. Click the arrow icon or press Enter to send your message.

Sending a New Message to a Group

You can send a message to a group of people.  You can add multiple people to a message, select a user group (e.g., Nurses-ICU), or an on-call group.

  1. Click Spok_Go_New_Message_icon.jpg
  2. In the Search by name field, do one of the following to add people or a group:
    • Enter and select the name of one person. Repeat to add more than one person to the message.
    • Enter the name of the user group. Any similar matches are displayed. If you select a user group, you cannot add additional people to the message.
    • Enter the name of an on-call group. If you select an on-call group, you cannot add additional people to the message.
  3. Compose your message in the Type your message field at the bottom of the page.
  4. Click the arrow icon or press Enter to send your message.

If you sent a message to one or more people, Spok Go can display who has read the message. If you sent a message to an on-call group or a user group, Spok Go will not display a read receipt because the message is sent back to Smart Suite.

On-Call Groups and User Groups

If Spok Go is integrated with Smart Suite, you can send a message to an on-call group or a user group. However, you cannot send a message to an on-call group and an additional person. Spok Go sends the message through Smart Suite to the active members of that group. Within Spok Go, you cannot view individual on-call calendars or who is assigned to that group.

Messages to an on-call group are treated as a page, so the message recipient cannot send a reply.

Viewing Message Information

Viewing Message Status and Read Receipts

After you send a message to another Spok Go user, you can see when the recipient has read your message and the message status. The table below lists the status messages for messages between Spok Go users.

If you send a message from Spok Go to Spok Mobile or to an on-call group, only a limited set of delivery status messages can be displayed.

Status Description
Sending Messages that have been sent but that have not arrived at the cloud.
Sent Messages that are in the cloud but that have not reached the recipient's device.
Delivered Messages that made it to your recipient's inbox and have not been read. The time you sent the message is also displayed.
Read Messages that have been read by the recipient. Spok Go also displays the time the recipient read the message.
Not Sent

Messages that were not received by the cloud or the recipient. This could occur if a network connection is lost when you sent the message.

If you send a message when your network connection is disrupted, Spok Go resends the message when the network connection is restored.

Viewing the Members in a Group Message

If you sent or received a group message, you can view the list of message recipients.

  1. Click the conversation in your inbox.
  2. On right side of the screen, click the information Spok_Go_message_details_icon.jpg icon.

You cannot view the members of an on-call group.

Viewing New Messages

To view a new message, click the conversation to display the message on the right. By default, conversations are displayed in chronological order based on the date/time the message was received. Messages are displayed in reverse chronological order.

Replying to a Message

If the message recipient has Spok Go open when you are replying, they will see a typing indicator of three dots under your last message.

  1. Click the conversation.
  2. Enter a message in the Type your message field.
  3. Press Enter to send your message to the individual or group.

Signing Out

When you are finished using Spok Go, sign out to prevent others from being able to access your messages on that device. You will be automatically signed out after one hour of inactivity. This is important if the mobile device is shared with other staff members. After you sign out, notifications for new messages will not appear until you sign in. Sign in to see the latest messages.

If you have unsent messages when you sign out, the messages are not saved.

  1. Click Spok_Go_Web_Profile_icon.jpg.
  2. Click Sign Out.
