Corrected Issues

  • When using search on a Spok Mobile device, you have to select the record twice to select.

Spok Mobile with Pager 4.6 (June 12, 2022)

  • Migration from Windows 2008 R2 to 2016 and new server hardware infrastructure (upgrade from 4.0 to 4.6)

  • Space-only messages from USMO should return 304: Cannot Accept Message.
  • Enabled port 8090 and HTTP.
  • Premise Server drops valid message read notification.
  • Restrict WSDL access to client registration and client messaging URL

Android 4.6.3 (September 21, 2021)

New Features and Enhancements

Corrected Issues

  • Fixed issue where Spok Mobile badge counter disappears with a banner message.
  • Fixed issue where Spok Mobile displays odd timestamp between midnight to 1 AM. (ex. 24:05)
  • Fixed issue where Team/OnCall Role are not displayed properly on the mobile clients.
  • Fixed issue where re-beeps do not work on locked Samsung Note 10 devices.
  • Various defect fixes for Android 10,11, and 12.

Known Issues

  • Samsung S10 Lite devices may display HIG instead of HIGH for chat priority. This is a device-dependent issue.

  • The Spok Mobile app intermittently crashes when attaching content from a Box cloud account.
  • If the Spok Mobile application is sent to the background after requesting the one-time passcode to reset the password, the user may not see the timer on the app screen. A workaround is to close the application from the background and restart the password reset process.

New Features and Enhancements in Spok Mobile for iOS 4.6.3

  • Spok Mobile now supports iOS 14.
  • Emojis are now supported in the Spok Mobile for iOS app. Note that this does not include emojis included in messages sent from consoles. In consoles, emojis sent from Spok Mobile will be displayed as Unicode characters. Emojis are not currently supported in cross-platform communications, such as communication from Spok Mobile for iOS to Spok Mobile for Android. For more information, see Emoji Support in Spok Mobile.
  • The mute switch override feature only works in iOS if the Spok Mobile Premise Server is running version 4.6.0 or later. A pop-up now appears in iOS to notify users of this requirement.

  • Apple has deprecated the UIWebView library.  Spok Mobile for iOS now uses WKWebView instead.

Known Issues

  • The Spok Mobile app intermittently crashes when attaching content from a Box cloud account. This is caused by an issue with the third-party BoxContentSDK library; no fix is currently available from the SDK team.
  • If you are using the iOS 14 public beta, when you use the "Select Photos" feature, the app does not limit the photos that are displayed, which makes them appear selectable. You will receive an error message if you choose any photos other than the ones picked with the "Select Photos" feature

New Features and Enhancements in Spok Mobile Server 4.6.0

  • Support for mute switch override feature for iOS versions 11 and above.
  • Support for Do Not Disturb (DND) override feature for iOS versions 11 and above.
  • Various security fixes.

Corrected Issues

  • The Standalone Registration form related to Messenger did not work in some circumstances.
  • If the Principal and Mirror servers changed their roles in the Care Connect installer, the installation would fail.
  • If the Mirror option was enabled in the Care Connect installer, Test Connection would return an error and High Availability settings would be lost following the installation.
  • When using Spok Console, the first message sent from Spok Mobile to an on-call recipient would always be sent to only the first assigned user in the group.
  • When attachments were enabled or disabled in Group Device Settings, Android devices did not reliably receive the updated setting.
  • When using Smart Suite with on-call groups and v3fix enabled, on-call groups in Smart Suite would appear as unavailable in mobile search results, even though the groups had assigned on-call users.
  • When using Smart Suite with v2fix, more than 25 records were returned by SpokDRS when searching from the mobile application with more than 1 search term.
  •  An exception would be generated when integrating a host system with projections disabled.
  • The "Amcom.AMC.MessageLibrary.SynchRegistration" message type remained in QUEUED Status, even though registrations were being synced and delivered.
  • The "ENROUTE" status was not being updated in the Premise Database.
  • The "No Response from device" mechanism did not work properly.
  • When projections were enabled or disabled, user devices would not receive a push notification, which prevented them from updating their device settings.
  • Unexpected Spok Mobile messages were received with the text "The message you replied to is no longer available” even if the user did not reply to a message.

Known Issues

  • None.

New Features and Enhancements in Spok Mobile for iOS 4.6.2

  • Support for mute switch override feature for iOS versions 11 and above.
  • Support for Do Not Disturb (DND) override feature for iOS versions 11 and above.
Note: The above features are available to end users when Spok Mobile Server is upgraded to 4.6.

Corrected Issues

  • When searching for a group by name, the search returns a department name instead of the group name.

iOS 4.6.1 (August 20, 2019)

Corrected Issues

  • The Avaya Equinox app did not launch correctly.
  • Text in a new message did not formatted correctly.
  • After the user accepted or declined a message during the update process, the user was not taken back to the Messages screen.
  • The wipe command did not remove messages on iOS 10 and iOS 11
  • Pager Tone continued to play even after the user opened the app.
  • The app did not prompt the user when the user tried to attach a video file.

Spok Mobile for iOS 4.6.1 has been tested on, and works with, iOS 13.

Android 4.6.2 (July 29, 2019)

Corrected Issues

  • Push notifications were not being sent to the device.
  •  The app stopped responding if many push notifications were received at once.
  •  Status changes from webXchange did not appear in the mobile app.
  •  User name changes from webXchange did not appear in the mobile app.

  •  If the tone volume was set low, but not muted, the tone volume would be set to maximum when a message was received.

Android 4.6.1 (March 12, 2019)

New in Spok Mobile 4.6.1 for Android

  • Spok Mobile for Android now uses the latest cloud notification service from Google. This robust service is the latest from Google, and it powers your users’ Spok Mobile message notifications as soon as they update.

Please have Android users update before April 1, 2019 to avoid service interruptions.

  • Several background jobs in the app are now optimized for performance. For example, finishing your registration and receiving administrator setting changes can finish quicker and require less cellular or Wi-Fi data.

Corrected Issues

  • In some cases, Spok Mobile for Android users would be taken back to the Registration screen when they attempted to access the Settings on their devices. This could occur if the state of Host Projections was changed on the Spok Mobile Admin > Administration > Integrations screen.
  • On Samsung Galaxy 9 and 9+, Spok Mobile would crash when attempting to access the Settings screen.
  • In some cases, when Spok Mobile was set to use chat-style messaging, Android devices which did not have any lock screen set, or which were set to use Swipe to unlock, would not receive an audible alert tone when a message was received.
  • If a device was locked while the application is in focus, incoming messages would not rebeep. This issue occurred because the device behaved as if the application was open, even when the screen was locked.

  • Fixed an issue in which the application would become unresponsive in some cases.

iOS 4.6.0 (January 29, 2019)

To continue sending and receiving message attachments, you must update to the 4.6.0 app version. Older versions of the app will not support attachments after your institution makes a specific change to its Spok Mobile Server.

New in Spok Mobile 4.6.0 for iOS

  • Spok Mobile now fills the entire screen on notched devices.
  • Spok Mobile now uses the Photos library.
  • "Acknowledged" and "Received" events are now processed correctly, regardless of the order in which they are received.
  • Improved support for iOS 12.

Corrected Issues

  • Attachment previews did not appear in some cases; this has now been corrected.
  • The "ignored message" toast notification now appears in iOS 11.
  • When a notification arrives, the message will only be fetched from the Spok Mobile server once.
  • Spok Mobile will no longer crash if you configure an access code on an iOS 12 device which does not have a fingerprint reader.
  • Alarms will no longer continue after you accept or decline a message from the lock screen or on the Apple Watch.

Known Issues

  • When using "Pager Tone" as your choice of alarm tone, this sound may continue to play even after Accepting/Declining or reading a new message. We recommend choosing a different tone for each tone priority from the app drawer > Settings menu.
  • On iPhone 5C running iOS 10.3, each rebeep produces a new message notification. To resolve this, re-register your iPhone 5C or update to a newer version of iOS.

Android 4.6.0 (January 31, 2019)

To continue sending and receiving message attachments, you must update to the 4.6.0 app version. Older versions of the app will not support attachments after your institution makes a specific change to its Spok Mobile Server.

New in Spok Mobile 4.6.0 for Android

  • Improved compatibility with Android versions Oreo 8 and Pie 9.

Corrected Issues

  • Spok Mobile will work correctly on Android devices if the Spok Notification Framework is enabled on-premises.
  • If the Spok Notification Framework is disabled on-premises, Health Check provides correct results on a non-GCM/FCM device.
  • The app no longer crashes when you tap a notification group while a message is open.

Known Issues

  • In some cases, Spok Mobile for Android users will be taken back to the Registration screen when they attempt to access the Settings on their devices. This can occur if the state of Host Projections has been changed on the Spok Mobile Admin > Administration > Integrations screen. This issue is fixed in Spok Mobile for Android 4.6.1.
  • In some cases, when Spok Mobile is set to use chat-style messaging, Android devices which do not have any lock screen set, including Swipe to unlock, may not receive an audible alert tone when a message is received.
