This allows you to communicate with all other Spok Mobile users at your site quickly and easily.
Please note that there are many different configurations of Spok Mobile, and it is available on many different device types and operating systems. Based on your device type and operating system, as well as the Spok Mobile configuration and version, you may not have access to every feature.
Intended Use
Spok Mobile was designed to improve the quality and speed at which people communicate. Spok Mobile should not be used in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of illness or disease by assisting with a professional’s assessment or treatment of a patient.
This product is not a medical device and uses an unlicensed frequency band that is susceptible to interference from other devices or equipment. These external variables can interfere with cellular data and Wi-Fi internet coverage. Because of these unpredictable external factors, Spok cannot guarantee that all Spok Mobile messages will be successfully sent and received.
To help improve the reliability of the product, Spok recommends that any device which has the Spok Mobile client application also has cellular data coverage as well as wireless internet access as a backup. Having the suggested form of internet coverage (cellular data) as well as the backup form of internet coverage (Wi-Fi) helps improve the overall coverage if interference occurs with one of the internet connections.
Depending on how the Spok Mobile application is used, the application reserves the right to use your cellular data coverage and wireless internet.
Prerequisites
Before installing Spok Mobile on your device, please make sure the following things are true:
- The device is running Android 14.0 (Upside Down Cake) or higher.

Enabling the Phone and Storage Options
To ensure that all features of the Spok Mobile app work as intended, the app must be given Phone and Storage permissions in the Android operating system. If these permissions are not manually enabled, some features of the Spok Mobile client application will not function as designed. Specifically, if you want to be able to dial phone numbers by clicking on a phone link in a message or on the Call Back button, Android permissions must be configured to allow this behavior. Additionally, if you want to use the Camera application for capturing or selecting images for messaging or profiles, storage permissions will need to be configured.
On Samsung devices, use the following settings path: Settings > More > Application Manager instead of the path specified in steps 1 and 2.
- On your Android device, open your device's Settings app. The Android Settings screen displays.
- In the Settings screen, choose the Apps option. A list of apps will display.
NOTE: This may have a different name on some devices, such as "Apps & notifications". - Select the Spok Mobile app.
NOTE: If the Spok Mobile app is not visible, click See all apps, then navigate to the Spok Mobile app and select it. - The App info screen displays for the Spok Mobile app:
- Select Permissions. The App permissions screen displays.
- Enable the Phone option.
- Enable the Storage option.
The changes are saved.
